AFRO-BRAZILIAN DANCE WORKSHOP REGISTRATION
As part of Axé Capoeira YYC’s 2026 Batizado & Troca de Cordas celebration, we are hosting an Afro-Brazilian Dance workshop!
We are excited to feature Alicia Fennell, Professora Onça, from Comox Valley, BC. Alicia was trained in Afro-Brazilian dance by Professora Aurinha from Recife, Brazil. Over the years, she has taught Afro-Brazilian dance and Capoeira to children and adults and produces annual performances on Vancouver Island celebrating Afro-Brazilian culture. She has also travelled internationally with Axé Capoeira, performing dance in Angola, Mexico, Brazil, and across Canada.
The live drumming component will be led by Marcus Aurelio, Mestre Barrãozinho, an experienced Capoeira Master and musician with extensive experience in Afro-Brazilian percussion. His teaching combines strong technical skill, musicality, and cultural knowledge, creating an engaging and authentic experience for participants.
